Evil Leaders
Evil leaders fall into two main categories... Those
who commit evil acts such as Hitler, Stalin, and so on or leaders that live
evil lives and the Word of God gives us a very clear picture of who is really a
disciple of Christ and who is not…
The first stop is what are the fruits of a
believer? Galatians 5:22-24 tells that “The
fruit of the >Spirit< is love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness,
goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance against such there is no law.
And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and
lusts”. So we can see from this that those of the Spirit (born again) will
exhibit these fruits in their lives.
However, those not of the Spirit will exhibit other signs and they
are these… “Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these – Adultery,
fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred,
variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envy, murders,
drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before as I
have also told you in time past that they which do such things shall not
inherit the kingdom of God”. (Galatians 5:19-21). So if a man is exhibiting
these in their lives after they claim to be “born again” then they are clearly
lying.
What confuses most people who say they are Christians is that they
think they have some godly duty to support their leaders no matter what they do,
when in fact the Bible clearly doesn’t say that. It does tell us to obey the
ones over us (as long as they do not violate Gods law), to obey the laws of the
land, and to pray for our leaders but anything more than is not in the Word of
God and was made up by some man. Also, there is no such thing as civic duty in
the Bible because the Word tells us to not entangle ourselves in the affairs of
the world.
So the short answer is this… If a man is committing evil acts or
is evil by nature then we are not to back them. Pray for them yes, but that is
all we should do.
