Meaning Of The Word "World"

Time For Some Truth

John 15:18-21

“If the world hates you, know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love its own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said unto you, the servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me”

Now the word “world” is VERY interesting because most think it is only talking about sin, but here is what the word means in its entirety. The word world here is the Greek word “kosmos” which means an apt and harmonious arrangement or CONSTITUTION, government, the inhabitants of the earth, the human family, the ungodly multitude (the whole mass of men alienated from God, and therefore hostile to the cause of Christ), WORLD AFFAIRS, the aggregate of things earthly, and the whole circle of earthly goods (endowments riches, advantages, pleasures, etc) which although hollow and frail and fleeting, stir desire, and seduce from God and are obstacles to the cause of Christ.

So stop trying to obtain more money, better cars and houses, more "things", and anything else of the WORLD because you are NOT part of this WORLD!!
