4 Types of Messengers
4 Types of Messengers
In the Church there are 4 major types of messengers for Christ. The
first group includes those who love God and want to tell everyone the true
Gospel which includes repentance and the need of a Savior (plus holiness and
sanctification). Group two are the wimps who only tell people that Jesus loves
them and never mention the words “repentance or sin”. These people will have
lots of loved ones staring at them on Judgment Day as they are thrown into the
Lake of Fire. Finally, the last group includes those who preach the truth of
the Gospel but they do it for the wrong reasons which appear to be a constant
on TV today. In Philippians Paul writes this: “Some indeed preach Christ even
of envy and strife; and some also of good will. The one preach Christ of
contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds, but the
other of love, knowing that I am set for the defense of the gospel. What
then? Notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence or in truth, Christ is
preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice”
(Philippians 1:15-18). This tells us that it doesn’t matter
the motivation of why someone preaches just as long as Christ is being
preached.
So
who is in the fourth and final group? They are the attack dogs of God who appear
to have an axe to grind and there are plenty of them on “social media” and they
are a dangerous group...
The
attack dogs are people who in simple terms think they have great knowledge of
the Word and many of them think they are better than everyone else. To be
honest, it is really easy to fall into this group because most of the time (not
all), these people are indeed speaking truth and most actually start out wanting
to reach people. However, many times they will eventually go off the rails and
start speaking the truth correctly. Some will seem to be constantly beating a
dead horse and others will make a crusade out of their doctrine. For instance,
have you ever had someone on your social media page that constantly attacks
homosexuality, Christmas, or any other of a thousand sins that they want to
point out all the time? If so, there is a real chance they fall into this
fourth group. There is nowhere in Scripture where we are told we have a
ministry of speaking against say drinking or drugs or homosexuality. Why?
Because to GOD the littlest sin will send someone to hell! Also, if you read
John 3 it says this “He that believes on him is not condemned:
but he that believes not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in
the name of the only begotten Son of God and this is the condemnation, that
light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because
their deeds were evil. For every one that does evil hates the light and
does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved” (Verses 18-20).
Did you see it? It does not say those who are homosexuals are condemned or those
who are drunks are condemned, no it says “but he that believes not is condemned
already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of
God”! However, how many times do you hear THIS message mentioned on social media?
NO VERY OFTEN! We are told to discern (judge) ourselves and our fellow brethren
but NO WHERE are we told to judge a sinners lifestyle because they are sinners
and sinner’s sin. No, no, no! We are told to being them the GOSPEL which is the
GOOD NEWS that Jesus came to set them free and give them real life.
One of the main reasons people fall into group four is because they
want to be seen as a great “preacher or teacher” which means they have fallen
into PRIDE or they have a HAUGHTY spirit and as we should know “Pride (self exaltation of arrogance) goes before
destruction (breaking, shattering, or a crushing), and an haughty spirit (thinking
you are all that) before a fall (a calamity or stumbling)”. Many
Christians are constantly having issues and the main reason is they have a
haughty spirit and always want people to “look at them and what they are doing
for God". Of course in Matthew 6 it tells us when we do things for God we are
to do them in secret not tell people what we are doing for God. So many
in the American church have this “haughty spirit” and do not realize that this is
why they are having issues that go from finances to health and even all the way
down to depression and the contemplation of suicide.
In closing, I have been here so I know what I am
talking about and there are NO fingers pointing at my brothers and sisters but only
the hopes that we can put on the brakes with this final group and start “speaking
and preaching the truth in love” as we are commanded to do.
